VR & AR &projection mapping real-time installation
Unity ECS & ARkit, water- like shader, leap motion, Blender realistic human model,video feedback loop
Our desire keeps bursting in our mind all the time. But our minds intend to keep them lock down over and over again. This installation intends to let the audience experience such experience.
A sphere infinite cage will attach to the audience and follow the rotation and movements of the audience in VR. The audience will be asked to open their mouth with two hands aside to create a water-like real-time fractal feedback loop cage texture. Others can see the hands coming from the cage attached on the head of the audience on the AR apps too. And they will also experience the uncontrollable hands with their own big mouth open texture to catch them.
I have strong desire for many things. But my mind always thinks of these things in a paradox way. A desire comes up in my mind then the barriers comes up in my mind too. These happens over and over again. Just like being bouncing in an endless round cage in my head. Water represents original desire. This makes me feel like drowning and gasping over the sea in my mind. I create the digital fractal feedback loop which I used a lot in my previous work on the audience mouth to present the endless desire as the texture on the cage.
1. Model making: The cage was based on a single frame layer and I used Unity ECS to multiply it in order to create the infinite constraint perception. And the audience will feel like absorbed into the frames and bouncing inside it over and make the audience feel like unescapable.
2. Texture design: The water-like shader with image sequence will stronger the misty endless desire.
3. Interaction design: the hand animation which was captured by leap motion will be animated to all directions towards the audience like the mind is fully occupied with desire.
4. The other audience can be involved in the experience by seeing the audience with VR headset and the hand coming out the cage and grow bigger by Unity ARkit.
